Special Animal Tribute
www.TheRealMartha.com

This is not my writing. It was a forwarded post from a rescue list. I decided immediately it had to be a page. It speaks my thoughts, as well as many others' as I've heard since it's been circulating.

I tried to find a contact for the author, no luck. Also no copyright attached - I decided it needed to be out there without waiting for permission to use, however, if anyone knows Kent, I would feel better with an OK.

Update: Author found, I have removed my copy. No need here since the original is available: http://www.journeyforanimals.com/html/read-the-journey.html

The rest of the page expresses personal feelings.

As my sister said when she sent the copy, "This says it all." So true, and so perfect a title. No matter where Lib and I went, across the country and back, she was always ready to jump in the car. No matter what a fool I'd made out of myself at any given time, by the end of the day she was always thrilled to see I'd managed to make it home. How brilliant I must be to deserve all that attention.

When Mike started traveling with a new job, we made a point of crossing bridges if we happened to be close to a state line, just so Lib could add new conquered territory to her list. Silly? Of course, we all got a kick out of exactly how silly it was. Adventures and memories - I feel sorry for anyone who hasn't taken the time to appreciate the view from the other end of the leash. And Buster, old as he's getting to be, still takes patrol duty most seriously. Every sniff a study of intense concentration.

Good one to think on: "This is so awesome and in so many ways it can apply to our "human" companions as well. Not only friends but our true soul mates. I seem now, since I met my husband Rick, to be slowing down and taking time to appreciate not only him but the beauty and wonders that surround us," Colleen.

There's never a right thing to say ... it's so hard to lose an animal, they're never with us long enough. A piece written by a vet, about halfway down the page on "Just my Dog," may help explain why: http://www.therealmartha.com/justmydog/index.htm

A cutie to lighten up, Lib the Flirt (incorrigible hussy, if truth be told): http://therealmartha.home.mindspring.com/libflirt/default.htm

I'm counting on the Rainbow Bridge tales to come true, what a party that will be!

Follow the links on "Just my Dog" to a variety of critter pages, mine and by others - educational, fun, thoughtful, including links to animal welfare organizations. Or, go straight to main critter index ~ http://www.therealmartha.com/CritterIndex/index.htm

Please use a clearly defined subject line. If I don't answer in a day or so, try again. Mail service is completely unreliable - plus due to a mountain of junk every day, I delete if I don't recognize name or the subject is "hi" or "hey" or the like - that's what spammers do.
