Shelter Spotlight

Shani, official canine reporter for the Boomer Times, donates a half page space to the Saint Charles Humane Society to show off our sweeties. If Shani was not so generous, this would be easier to read - wouldn't have to be downsized. Newsprint is a devil to reproduce in any size, and any kind of pics loose quality because they've already gone through one switch to black and white. In other words, pixels were on the third scramble by the time they arrived here. Smudges at bottom caused by bleeding from the reverse side. Type fades when lightened more. The good news is ... learned how to export the file instead of scanning the finished print for August (below).

Miss Liberty's Fourth of July message:

The Fourth of July is my holiday, but it's certainly not my favorite. Fireworks can be very scary for critters. Ordinarily docile dogs have been known to freak and crash through windows and/or do other damage to property or themselves. Please plan ahead for a secure environment, especially if you're not going to be home.

Dogs are never 100 percent safe off-leash, noisy holidays require extra attention and caution. Almost anything, including unfamiliar company, can spook dogs.
Lost in panic, they might fall into a hole, be hung up in a fence or run into streets without looking and end up with a fatal case of asphalt rash. The danger list is endless.

Cats don't appreciate any of that racket either. Cranking up the stereo will help muffle the outside hoopla.

Shani's brother Bogey decided he needed to be part of this deal for the August issue. Sorry the text is still a little hard to read, this is about 80 percent of real print size. More info and color pics are included on each organization's site (links below).

Although new on the market, "Boomer Times" is already making an impact on the animal rescue world! We have received several applications and inquiries from folks who have seen our organization mentioned in Boomer Times. Thanks so much! Keep up the good work.

Lib was modeling the Stars and Stripes for a fashion show in pic above. Freedom propensity first earned the teeny escape artist her name. Coincidentally, the Statue of Liberty had gone into restoration shortly after Lib was born. Destiny led to paying homage to Lady Liberty by exercising the power of a free press. The Dog's Eye View column covered a wide subject variety and has appeared in numerous publications over the years. Naturally, she also hosts her own site: http://members.aol.com/Libbyk9/index.html
