Chew-n-Toss Dog Toys
Patent pending Chew/toss/retrieve/slime-resistant toys that have, so far, survived Scoopy, world-class, peerless master of disaster, a.k.a. Dr. Destructo. In other words ... if Scoopy
can't immediately terminate a toy, it can be considered nearly immortal. I do believe
Arnold would be impressed. Chewapalooza
earned perfect 10s in the Thrill and Cost vs. Durability categories from world famous toy
testers Bergamot and Emrys. If the challenge link won't open (which usually happens for no good reason), the whole review is also posted here: http://www.therealmartha.com/Chewapalooza/index.htm And, we have a brand new celebrity endorsement! See Wade's story and pics on intro page and more here: http://www.baytownhumanesociety.org/ann_wadeupdate.htm His fans from all over the country always want updates ~ if that link doesn't go straight to the May 29 page, you might have to backtrack for Chewapalooza pics. Johann the Dog, famous newsletter editor and his little sister Gracie were among the first to test the latest fabric combo version: http://www.therealmartha.com/UKOsDogToys/ Visit www.johannthedog.com and go to the 'Bark at Me' page to read past newsletters and subscribe. Dogs will be dogs ~ boredom is the enemy. From Aunt Judy, "The dogs love the toy so much all h*ll broke loose fighting over it. Jake and Dixie (Labs) tried their best to tear it to pieces but it held up nicely." Obviously the rowdy gene runs in the family. Good idea to order more than one for multiple-dog households. Great for puppies too ~ see pics close to end of page. The official senior sanction: 10-year-old Australian Cattle Dog Reenue's Sidekick "Jingles" (CD, CGC, ATTS and HIC thank you very much) who is also tagged "The Gutter" favors the upside-down, toss and juggle style attempts to mangle. Who'da thunk it?!
The one with the most green and red across his nose is Treasure, 12 years old. The other is Murphy, about 9, and the smarter of the two, or at least the one who likes to talk the most and is the most aggressive. Large birds are very high maintenance and live anywhere from 50 to more than 100 years. They need a lot of attention and toys to keep them happy. They can be great companions but unless you are willing to give them loyalty for life, don't get one. Going from person to person can stress them to the max and they'll either become self-destructive or die from depression. "Jax already loves it, has not stopped playing with it since I got home." Maybe just long enough to pose showing off that fine physique (Jax is another nephew, so OK, I'm prejudiced). The girls love it! Minnie especially - as you can see, she turned into the devil if Harley tried to get anywhere near her (i.e., the red eyes :))!!! Harley did finally get her turn but not for long. Uncle Mike designed this custom model for sharing (two ends) - even though Mom told us the girls only wanted whichever toy the other one had - typical kids. OMG OMG - Frankie is obsessed
with the toy! He grabbed it, took off, has not stopped playing with it
for the past two hours. If someone takes it from him, he cries to get it back. Has been
gnawing and scratching at it non-stop. Wow ... best toy ever. All that's missing is the
squeaker but it doesn't seem to be missed by he who counts. How did you figure out that
this material is so desirable for dogs? Seriously, Frankie is enraptured with it, he
highly, highly endorses ... ;-) Concentration is intense. Airborne attack ~ note ear flying OOOOOps ... what did I do? Looks like Oscar has earned himself the Master Toyminator title. Wreckage into at least 10 pieces was accomplished in only a few hours, however, the knots did stay intact.Pieces swallowed by a Boston terrier pup reportedly passed on through (no jagged edges to do damage). Also, the material is labeled natural rubber which is 99.998 percent free of latex allergens.
Reeses wasn't too sure about "The Alien" at first, just carried it around all night. Next morning mom found it in her bed. Note "Bite The Man" on the floor, heretofore fave ... rejected for The Alien. I think the toy is simply so odd, some dogs can't figure out what to do right away. Another friend's Westie ended up napping with hers after giving it the perfunctory once over, then ignoring it.
"Emrys went
crazy for it and has dominated it but Bergamot got in a few tugs with her. They are
continuing the toy test off camera and will have their results posted for the
weekend."
More great pics, including captions: http://www.littlebeasts.com/chewapalooza.html Final official review: http://www.littlebeasts.com/boston-terrier-challenge.html Here's the whole story ... Had two of these flying disks, Buster (see his pawsonal links at end of page) had so much fun shaking and chasing the small one we got another, larger. This is what Scoopy did to the large. This is the rubber tubing rim from the large after shredding, tied to what's left of a rope previously strung through a dental Kong. Tubing's unscathed, the Kong is now part of one new toy below. The big deal is the flexibility, flops around with a life of its own, fights back so to speak ... and, because it's a soft rubber, it gives instead of breaking into pieces like the plastic used for squeaky toys. Chewin' fool that he is, Scoopy never did manage to tear the old piece of tubing. That's pretty dang durable considering it was under heavy assault every day for months and months. Left and right are 3-foot lengths, middle is two longer pieces. Sales will be by yardage ~ tie your own knots or order the braided style(s) which will include labor charge. Scoopy really has to work to undo the ordinary knots on the yellow (narrow diameter), usually only takes about five minutes on the old, thicker. He still occasionally hauls out the rope combo ~ but just can't beat braided as new all-time fave, the offering for Mike upon his return from jungle. Loop tied for tug handle, between human and dog, dog and dog, however ... or tie two or three ends together, variations make a good game all around. Left to right: original with Kong (any toy could be attached), two-lengths and three lengths ~ the heavier styles bounce well too. I am not a cat person, so I really don't know but I suspect cats would enjoy the wiggly movement too ~ one length tied to some kind of wand. As soon as I test ~ lots of playful kitties at the shelter ~ I'll publish reactions. Aha, firsts results - Miss Ember, shelter office queen, was mildly amused with a bit of batting practice when I stuck one of the braided models in a Kleenex box (loose ends in the air). Stay tuned! Incidentally, you'll get your own exercise playing tug-of-war, works the upper arms anyway. One note of caution ... the human needs to win most of the time, otherwise you may find yourself creating a monster. Dogs naturally test for dominance over any other creature. Please use toy info as subject line: MarthaJones1@aol.com ~ Thanks! Prices start at $2 per foot (tie your own knots); braided styles at $15. Example: yellow braided with one 2-ft. and one 3-ft. length (5 feet total material), plus $2 shipping (US). More info next page (link at end of this page). Custom requests welcome. http://www.therealmartha.com/cheworderform/index.htm - order form Dealer inquiries welcome, special consideration given to non-profit animal welfare organizations. Cool goes-around from the multiverse ... Scoopy was dumped for eating furniture, blinds, a car interior, etc., etc. ... now, that wreckability is responsible for the idea that will help support his former associates and many more homeless. http://www.therealmartha.com/ScoopPoster/index.htm Main Critter Index This page is not linked on all critter pages yet, use reverse button or go back to Critter Index. New! Tied what used to be a fuzzy pillow to the old rope/tubing combo (sticking out at left) ... a big hit. Resting between rounds ~ note tail up, frog legs sprawled. Fuzzy added a little weight, all the better for sinking teeth into a "body" ~ tearin' it up some more, shakin' the bejesus right out of it. Lamb's wool (synthetic of course) and various fabric versions will be up next.
